GA needs to fix this soon to survive

Hey,

It was 2008, and a friend of mine had just completed his first solo when his flight school closed. Finding a school for him to complete his training was taking longer than we had expected.

Too long.

If it is this hard to find a school for my training, what is it going to be like once I get my license, he reasoned? Gradually, our student pilot lost interest and gave up on flying.

Another childhood dream of flying abandoned. Soon after that he spent his flying budget on a motorcycle and later took part in a motorcycle rally across India. But that’s another story.

What I learned from this experience is that there are many reasons people give up their flight training. We didn’t just lose another ambassador for general aviation that day, we also lost the family and friends he would have introduced to flying.

Losing that one student probably cost us several more.

Soon after that, I decided there had to be a better way for flight schools to connect with clients. FlightRepublic is the result of that experience. Read the previous emails here.
